Beaver Country Day School’s 17-acre wooded campus, located in Chestnut Hill, MA, just outside of Boston, accommodates first-rate classrooms, sophisticated science laboratories, a two-level library, a state-of-the-art visual and performing arts center (new in 2004), and a newly enlarged (2007) 39,000 s.f. athletic center. The campus has a wireless Internet network and three computer labs.

From its founding in the 1920, the setting and architecture of the school have played a significant role at BCDS. The original trustees oriented the main building in such a way that “healthful” daylight and air would fill the school and foster students’ development and education.

Throughout the past 87 years, the school has continued to expand and renovate its facilities as the needs and concerns of the BCDS community have grown and changed.

In September 2006 the school began construction on a new Athletic Center that opened at the start of the 2007-08 school year. The new athletic facility, which was added on to the existing gym (built in 1994), consolidates indoor sports in one place for better supervision, significantly increases flexibility in scheduling practices and games, and reduces the need for off-campus practices. There are new, separate locker rooms for middle and upper school students, new offices for the athletic department staff and coaches, and a new fitness and weight training center.

Some highlights of the existing facilities at BCDS include:
    • A two-level Middle School wing
    • A two-level Upper School wing
    • Bradley Hall: a full-size theater and assembly area with Art Deco details and modern stage machinery
    • McElwain Art Studio: a light-filled visual arts studio with an attached ceramics studio (3,000 s.f. total)
    • Nancy Lincoln Gallery: an exhibition art gallery for students and visiting artists
    • Rogers Room: a recently renovated meeting and study hall space
    • Marion Upton Clouse Biotechnology Laboratory: one of the most advanced high school science laboratories in the nation equipped with the latest tools of molecular biology
    • A fully automated library that allows all holdings to be accessed from the computers in the library, the classrooms and from home
    • Three on-site sports fields
    • Three outdoor pools (used by the summer camp)
    • A three-story visual and performing arts center that opened in September 2004 which provides:
o A black box theater, which seats 125 people
o Resources for choral music, drama, dance, instrumental music, printmaking, photography, drawing and computer graphics
o Dressing rooms, a scene shop, a costume workroom, a green room and a control room for lights and sound
