Circulation
The BCDS ID card issued at the beginning of the school year has eacn user's own barcode on it and lasts for the duration of the person’s stay at BCDS. This card permits the user to check out electronically up to six non-reference materials without the assistance of a librarian. Students may check out materials for a period of three weeks and renew for another three weeks if no other individual has requested the item.
Faculty and staff may check out materials for six weeks.
Without the BCDS ID card, a library user can ask for assistance from the librarians or sign out the book at the circulation desk on the clipboard. Should BCDS family members or alumni wish to check our materials, please ask the librarians for assistance.
Overdue Books
If an item is overdue, the library sends an in-school notice to the student, followed by a notice to the student's advisor before a letter is sent home. At the end of the trimester, the library bills the student’s family for the cost of the books with an added $10.00 charge per item for ordering and processing.
Interlibrary Loan
Through CLASS
(Cooperative Library Associaton Shared System), a shared catalog of 18 independent schools including BCDS, materials can be viewed in their collections. With these schools, the BCDS librarians can request lending privileges. Please ask them for assistance. The loans take about 4-5 days to receive.
At this time, BCDS cannot request materials from other public libraries. However, any individual with a local public library card may request materials to be sent to the nearest public library.
For information or assistance, contact the librarians.
