Steps
We seek to enroll young people who demonstrate strong academic ability and motivation, intellectual curiosity and creativity, and good citizenship. In making its decisions, the Admission Committee considers a student's school record, results of independent school standardized testing, as well as some combination of talent and interest in student leadership, the arts, athletics, and community involvement. The purpose of the admission process is to identify a good match between BCDS and the applicant in order to bring together a student body committed to personal and community growth and diversity. The Committee evaluates each application carefully, looking for proven performance and potential for growth.

Please note that our application deadline has changed to January 15 (from February 1).

1) Visit/Interview
An interview is a required part of the admission process. Call the Admission Office at (617) 738-2725 to arrange a tour of the campus and an interview. One or both parents or guardian should accompany the student applicant. The visit begins with a tour of the campus, after which the applicant, and then the parent(s) or guardian talks with a member of the admission staff. A tour and interview usually takes an hour and a half to two hours.

2) Application
The application portfolio includes the necessary forms for application to BCDS: teacher recommendations, transcript request, parent/guardian letter, and applicant's questionnaire and essay. More specific information can be found in the admission portfolio that is sent to all families who inquire at BCDS. To receive an application and viewbook, you can fill out an online inquiry form or call the Admission office at (617) 738-2725.
