Overview

Athletics are an integral part of Beaver’s overall education program and provide the same opportunities for learning, participation, growth, and success as any other program offered by the school. Just as in its academic program, the school’s athletic program promotes a balance between striving for excellence and valuing individual development. Athletics provides many opportunities for students to learn and practice essential life skills such as teamwork, good sportsmanship, fairness, self-discipline, courage, hard work, and humility. The athletic program builds school spirit and community by uniting students on the field across grades and social circles. In addition, participation in athletics fosters good physical health and fitness.

Athletics is a co-curricular program in both middle and upper school. All students are required to participate in the interscholastic sports or fitness program. Participation beyond the minimum requirement is wide. Middle school students also take a Physical Education class each term in addition to participating in sports as an afternoon activity.

BCDS belongs to the Eastern Independent League (EIL), which consists of: BCDS, Bancroft, Berwick, Chapel Hill, Concord Academy, Dana Hall, Landmark, Lexington Christian, Newton Country Day, Pingree, Portsmouth Abbey, and Winsor.
