Dress Code Information
The BCDS dress code is predicated upon the concept of "neat and appropriate," rather than on the need for conformity. We feel that students should be comfortable in what they wear. However, out of respect for the people in the community, we ask that students dress in clean clothing in good repair, and that they wear clothing that is free of offensive messages. In this regard, we have the following guidelines for students:

Students may wear:
-Jeans
-Some T-shirts
-Sweatshirts
-Shorts
-Other clothing that is neat and comfortable

Students should not wear the following:
-Athletic or physical education uniforms, except when changing early for a game or a spirit activity
-Clothing with slogans that may be perceived as offensive. Examples include profane messages, references to drugs, alcohol or sex, and concert or band promotions
-Clothing that is ripped, patched or unhemmed
-Hats (hats that are worn in the building will be confiscated)
-Clothing that is revealing

Dress-up Days
On two special occasions during the year, Founders' Day/Cum Laude induction ceremony (early Nov.) and Eighth Grade Promotion/Final Assembly (last day of school), students are expected to wear dress-up clothing. Boys should wear nice slacks, collared shirts and ties. Girls should wear a dress or nice pants/skirt with a blouse. All students should wear appropriate shoes.

In addition, some sports teams may choose to dress up on important game days.

We ask parents to support these policies by being aware of the clothing that your children wear before leaving for school.
